1937 US Open Original Press Photo - Sam Snead Driving

In his rookie season on Tour in 1937, Sam Snead played in his first U.S. Open. He finished second that year marking the first of four times that Snead would come in second place in the Open the only major missing from his Grand Slam resume. Offered here is an original wire photo from that 1937 U.S. Open held at Oakland Hills C.C. in Michigan of the "Slammer" driving a tee ball in Championship action. Verso of image still contains original newspaper cutline caption.
