James Braid Signed and Inscribed 'Advanced Golf' Book - Rare
As hesitant as we are to use the word 'rare' at the Golf Auction, this James Braid signed and inscribed 'Advanced Golf' book passes the test for a classification of a rare commodity. The book, published by Methuen & Co. in April of 1908, was signed by the five-time Open Championship winner and author of several golf publications aimed at instruction. If World Golf Rankings existed during his time, Braid would likely have been atop the rankings during the first decade of the 20th century. Braid lived a life centered around golf, as a player, author, and golf course architect; he helped design over 200 golf courses, often being referred to as the inventor of the dogleg.
