Jack Nicklaus, Jackie Robinson, & Gary Player Signed City of Hope Pro-Am Ticket
Representing luminaries from not only the golf world, but all of sport, this once $5 spectator ticket is signed in pencil by a young Jack Nicklaus, the legendary Brooklyn Dodger Jackie Robinson and fellow grand slam winner Gary Player. It marked a public appearance by the single most impactful player in the history of baseball and likely sport in general, Jackie Robinson. As many know Robinson unfortunately endured extremely difficult times while breaking baseball's color barrier, all while maintaining a career batting average of .311 during his MLB career from 1947 to 1956. Robinson passed away at the early age of 53 in 1972, after many years of declining health in which celebrity golf tournaments weren't in the picture. Legible is each and every letter of Jack Nicklaus' signature just to the right of his image, that like the other's dates to the early to mid 1960's. "City of Hope Pro-Am Celebrity Golf Tournament Featuring Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player' is written boldly in the center of the ticket with Nicklaus, Player and Bob Hope's black and white heads placed around the perimeter. Vernon Hills Country club hosted this event, as mentioned in the text on the reverse. Ticket was slabbed by Beckett #0011628591, and the casing was unfortunately damaged. Please see photo showing ticket encapsulated prior to being removed. We discussed this item with the Consignor, and the wishes were to present the already slabbed ticket as best we could, and that meant removing it from it's damaged encapsulation. A great piece of history is now at your fingertips. 4 1/4" diameter

All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval). 1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
