Offered here is an Associated Press photo from the 1960 World Amateur Golf Team Championship conclusion signed by subject Jack Nicklaus standing next to his United States teammates. This was the 2nd competition for the Eisenhower Trophy, named for the US President and his love of golf. Jack Nicklaus, Robert Gardner and Deane Beman (each pictured) were the notable names on the American team, while Bruce Devlin starred for the Australian team. Jack Nicklaus took home the individual honors at the tournament. 10" x 8" Caption: They're close to the cup- The United States team in the World Amateur Golf championship, which goes into its final round at Merion Golf club in Ardmore, Pa., today, poses with the cup which they stand almost certain to win. They are going into the last 18 holes of the 72-hole play with a team score of 616, as compared to a second place tie of 654, held by Great Britain-Ireland and Australia.
