1950 USGA Open Championship Low Scorer - Sectional Qualifying Round Medal


Jack Fleck was awarded this medal by the United States Golf Association when he posted the low score at the Des Moines, Iowa Sectional Qualifying event to participate in the 1950 U.S. Open. More important then the medal to Fleck was this triumph gained him his invitation to the first major of his career. What a major it was! The Hogan "Miracle at Merion". Scalloped edge metal displays traditional U.S.G.A logo on facing side along with traditional engraving which includes Des Moines on reverse. Early Fleck memorabilia, five years before the historic matchup of Fleck and Hogan at the 1955 U.S. Open.
