2014 Ryder Cup Auction - Featuring Jack Fleck Collection
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/28/2014
The Phoenix Open is one of the longest run events on the PGA Tour. Dating back to the 1930's its past champions have included Byron Nelson, Ben Hogan, Jimmy Demaret, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Phil Mickelson. Jack Fleck is a member of this elite group of golfers having won the Phoenix Open for his second PGA title in 1960. In addition to the winners medal and check the champion of the Phoenix Open also receives the 4" x 4" silver pendant of the Thunderbird. Derived from American Indian Symbols this medallion represents the organization, The Thunderbirds, which serve as the civic organization that organizes the tournament and does much of the work surrounding it. With only 55 active members, who have been asked to join (similar to membership at the Augusta National) being a member of The Thunderbirds is one of the highest honors a resident of Phoenix can achieve. These members proudly were the medallion which is emblematic of continuous civic pride and unrivaled success. They recognize the success of their tournament champion by awarding them the silver Thunderbird. A very unique opportunity to own a Thunderbird pendant presents its self here.
Please note: This auction will end at 7:00pm EST on September 28th with extended bidding to follow. All items in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period. All lots are free to be bid on until extended bidding has ended.
