1958 PGA Championship Contestant Money Clip

In 1958 Jack Fleck facing a PGA championship field of 167 players shot 74 in the first round but then withdrew from the event. The badge of contestants admittance that year for the PGA featured a baby blue, navy and contrasting gold color pattern scheme to decorate the 1 ½” x 2 ½” money clip which carried engraving 1958 on its facing side. Fleck's money clip issued for the '58 event is offered here still retaining all it's original enamel. The reverse of this memento carries stampings of where these matches were contested "Llanerch Country Club" "Havertown, PA" and the date July 17-20. When they become available the remaining 1958 PGA contestants badges, from the original 167 issued to players, can often not be associated to any specific player. Adding extra value to this example is the known quantity of Jack Fleck and his status as a major winner of the 1955 U.S. Open.
