J. A. Novak ET AL Adjustable Golf Club - Trademark Reg. - Joseph A. Novak
Joe Novak was a Southern California PGA Section President from 1949-1951. Joe Novak began caddying at the age of 7 and took his first job as a professional at the age of 16 at Butte Country Club. In 1918, he headed west, ending up in Spokane, WA. Novak competed in the 1922, 1924, and 1925 US Opens and then moved to Bel Air Country Club in Los Angeles in 1927. Novak was the first to teach golf over the radio in 1924. During the Great Depression he attended law school and passed the bar exam. Offered in this lot is Novak's patented adjustable club for bidders.
**THE LEE CRIST "MR. TEE" COLLECTION**
Since joining The Golf Collectors Society in 1987, Lee Crist has made his montra with the golf tee. And what a display it has been encompassing a plethora of different composites, shapes, colors and manufacturers. The Crist collection includes the earliest and most desired implements for 'teeing up" a golf ball which are known as sand molds, the precursors to the modern wood or plastic staples in today's game. The Golf Auction is honored to have spent some time in Lee's home learning the nuances of golf tee collecting from the hobbies ultimate expert. We are pleased to offer some of his favorite golf treasures in this auction.
