Horton Smith Vintage Signed Album Page with Jimmy Thomson - 1942


Featured in this lot is an album page signed by Horton Smith and Jimmy Thomson in ink, with the notation of "Saturday May 16, 1942." One of the top professional golfers of the 1930's, Horton Smith will forever be known as the champion of the first Masters in 1934. He added a second win at Augusta in 1936 among his 32 career PGA triumphs. In 1930, he was the only player to defeat Bobby Jones in his Grand Slam season. Smith was also a top player in the early Ryder Cup competitions appearing in five consecutive events from 1929-37. The World Golf Hall of Famer was the first past Masters Champion to decease when he passed away in 1963 at 55.
Jimmy Thomson signed the back of this album page. Thomson was a top 1920's and 1930's PGA competitor regarded as the longest hitter of his day, he spent much of his time touring and giving exhibitions.
James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the signature and their auction letter of authenticity will come with this lot.
