Harry Vardon Signed Large Format Circa 1905 George Beldam Photogravure - Framed

Displaying a high grade pencil signature of Harry Vardon is this turn of the century George Beldam Photogravure that dates to September 1, 1905. This post-swing photograph of the leading member of the 'Great Triumvirate' is crystal clear and offers a large format piece that carries the stamp of approval by Vardon in lead just below the image. Just above it upon inspection you will see 'London, Published by the Swan Electric Engraving Company, Northumbria House, 116 Charing Cross Road, 1st September 1905.' Now for Background on the subject Harry Vardon. Vardon won the Open Championship a record six times (1896, 1898, 1899, 1903, 1911, 1914) and was the 1900 U.S. Open champion. He, James Braid, and John Henry Taylor formed the 'Great Triumvirate' of the three renowned British golfers at the turn of the century. The three Englishmen combined to win the Open Championship 16 out of 21 times spanning from 1894-1914. Vardon, passed away in 1937, long before autographs were the popular pursuit as they are today. Combine this with his legendary status as both player and innovator in the game, and it is easy to see why any signed item of Vardon's that hits the marketplace is highly coveted. This format elevates this relic to the next level of golf collectibles. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this autograph and their certification of its authenticity will come with this lot. 24 1/2" x 32 1/2"
