Bernard Darwin Double Sided Letter
No less an authority then fellow Hall of Fame golf writer Herbert Warren Wind had this to say,"To start at the beginning, Bernard Darwin is the greatest writer on golf the world has ever known. He is much more than that. He may be the greatest of all sportswriters." When he wasn't writing he could usually be found on a golf course displaying that he was a skilled player of the game as well as a chronicler of the sport. He competed in the 1922 first Walker Cup winning his singles match 3 and 1 over U.S. captain W.C. Frowne, Jr. He also was a semifinalist in the 1909 and 1921 British Amateur. Darwin was recognized also as the captain of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews in 1934. Offered here from the Hall of Fame golf writer Darwin is a two page missive with golf content (writes about going to Portrush for the Open) penned in 1951 from Kent, England. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this autograph of Darwin and their letter of authenticity will come with this lot. Please note: This auction will end at 7:00pm EST on December 7th with extended bidding to follow.
