George Pietzcker Original Photo of Maurice McCarthy Jr. Dated - '28 & '32 Walker Cup Member
Due to the Great Depression the 7th Walker Cup nearly didn't happen. Captained by Francis Ouimet, the 1932 US Walker Cup team lead by 1929 US Amateur Harrison "Jimmy" Johnson and fellow talented amateur golfer Maurice McCarthy Jr dominated the matches 8-1. Maurice McCarthy Jr. is written with "Best Wishes" and Dated on this Original George Pietzcker Photo "1930" in time-period ink culminating in an opportunity that will likely not present itself again. McCarthy is seen clad in a shirt and tie and plus-fours, rounded out with checkered socks for this posed photo. The George Pietzcker Photo of Maurice McCarthy Jr is complete with the customary Pietzcker embossing crimp on the lower right hand corner and Clemens Avenue St Louis studio stamp on its reverse. George Pietzcker is of course well known in the industry as the industry leading photographer for the USGA in the early 20th century. It is in good condition, with rounded corners and additional scrapbook paper on the reverse that doesn't affect the stamp. 4 1/2" x 7 1/4."
