Gene Sarazen's Personal Sarazen Grand Slammer Hat, Jun Sweater, & Di Fini Knickers

The 5' 5" Squire was in many aspects were larger than life. Contained in this lot is a full golfing wardrobe of hat, sweater and knickers from the closet of Gene Sarazen by way of the PGA of America. His style comes from in many aspects his early professional golf days of the 1920's, winning the 1922 PGA Championship and US Open and following those up with five more majors and registering the first professional or "modern day" grand slam. Both Sarazen's hat and sweater show signs of being worn, as well as custom designs and logos with his name and branding including "The First Professional Grand Slammer" on his blue and green striped white bucket hat and "G. Sarazen JUNC. C.C." embroidered on his sweater breast. The signature aspect to Sarazen's cream colored plus-four Di Fini brand knickers is likely the fact that he wore them in golfing competition his entire life. Rarely if ever has Gene Sarazen's full ensemble been made available to the public, so plan accordingly. Please note that the items are not displayed to scale in the first photo. A letter of from PGA Historian Bob Denney will accompany this lot.
