Fred Conway Original Marker Sketch of Arnold Palmer - Signed by Conway

R.I.P. to The King. We'll never see anyone in golf as beloved as Arnold Palmer, and his career accomplishments are overshadowed by his impact on the game. The late Palmer passed away Sunday, September 25 at age 87. In this lot we have an original marker sketch of Arnold Palmer by artist Fred Conway. This framed piece measures 21" x 17", piece measures 13 1/2" x 10 1/2". The gold trim frame is in excellent condition. Fred Conway was an American visual artist who was born in 1900. Numerous works by the artist have been sold at auction, including 'Dreamer' sold at Link Auction Galleries 'Modernism' in 2015 for $8,000. The artist died in 1972. Arnold Palmer captivated audiences during golf's television era where he, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player comprised golf's "Big Three." The King was the first four-time Masters winner and won seven major championships over his legendary career.

**THE JOHN ROTH COLLECTION**
The Ryder Cup Auction features many items from the collection of John Roth (1940-2015.) John spent 25 years amassing a collection of golf memorabilia and golf antiques that would rival most of the golf museums around the globe. John had a passion for the history and nuance of the game, its traditions and the ever-changing evolution of the manufacture of its equipment. John was a member of the Golf Collectors Society, and actively participated in many of its events around the country. John was also a long-time player in the Society of Hickory Golfers’ tournaments around the country, which honor the traditions of the game by playing with antique, wooden-shafted clubs. During his lifelong participation in the two organizations, John won or placed highly in several tournaments and made many lifelong friends with whom he found camaraderie in his pursuit of all things golf. It is his family’s wish that the items that John treasured so much find loving new homes where they can continue to be enjoyed and tell the history of the sport that meant so much to their husband and father.
