Frank Stranahan's 1952 Western Golf Amateur Championship Winner Medal with Ribbon

Frank Stranahan was up to the test in the 50th edition of the Western Open. This tournament which is the third oldest of the amateur golf championships (only the British and U.S. Amateurs are longer tenured) features one of the deepest and strongest fields that the play-for-fun golfer can face. The 29 year old Stranahan, already a three time past champion of the event(1946,49,51) claimed his fourth and final championship in the 1952 event. The award that Stranahan was presented by the Western Golf Association as a permanent reminder of that victory in 1952 is a 1 3/8" diameter gold medal, which is displayed on a 1 1/2"x 3" black ribbon.

The medal's verso engraving states:
Champion
1952

Verso is etched with precious metal stamping "14k"
