Francis Ouimet's Personal 1947 Masters Tournament Players Gift - Scrapbook
This lot features an incredible and seldom-seen scrapbook distributed as the second in the long running edition of Masters gifts to the participants/dignitaries by the Augusta National. This 11 1/2 X 13 scrapbook comes with its original string bound front and back covers, and has the added feature of a deluxe collector designed slip cover which has been crafted to house this treasured collectible. The leather top cover contains the the following gold etched wording against the crimson colored cover; "Masters Tournament 1947", "Augusta National Golf Club", and the recipients name "Francis Ouimet". The 15 page offering inside contains the complete 20 issued photos which breakdown by size- (4) 7 1/2 X 9 3/8 and (16) 3 1/8 X 4 5/8). Among these twenty photos the highlights are past Masters Champs to date (see photo below), a photo of 1947 champion Jimmy Demeret, and photos of President Robert T Jones Jr. and Chairman Clifford Roberts. For reference in the spring 2013 offering The Golf Auction sold contestants Felix Serafin's '47 scrapbook for $2,580.
