First International Foursome - Played on Leith Links in 1682 Print by Allan Stewart Circa 1911

Taking part in this foursome was the Duke of York, who later became James VII of Scotland/ II of England. Stewart's original piece was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1919. The match came to be when there was a disagreement between the Duke and a couple of English noblemen regarding the timelines of golfing in England and Scotland. Edinburgh cobbler John Paterson was the Duke's partner. The image is 17" H x 23" W, and framed to 25" H x 30" W. It is in very good condition, with some discoloration to the paper from age. This piece will come with a signed letter from Historian Bob Denney of the PGA, proclaiming that this item comes from their collection.
