Dutch Harrison's 1954 Gold & Diamond Engraved Cuff Links/Pins - Harry E. Radix Trophy - Lowest Annual Avg Score
An unprecedented lot of Dutch Harrison's 1954 Radix Trophy cuff links given to him by Harry Radix are presented to you now. Many golfers and fans alike are not aware of the history as to the origination of the Vardon Trophy. Prior to 1937, the Vardon Trophy was named the Harry E. Radix Trophy to be awarded to the golfer for that year with the lowest eighteen hole average over the course of a year's tournaments. Due to PGA internal turmoil, the honor was re-named the Vardon Trophy after the legendary Harry Vardon who had fallen gravely ill at the time, passing away that March, 1937. With decisions like this out of his control, Harry still passed the tradition on to Dutch Harrison by giving the Harry E. Radix trophy cuff links to him.
A rarity to be seen is a single one such as Sam Snead's 1955 that was auctioned off a few years ago, and so we are quite honored to present you this grand pair! Originally they were cuff links, but after sitting in a box for years, Mrs. Harrison decided to make them into pins! Please read attached articles stating so. One reverse says 'Dutch from H.E.R.' while the other states 'Radix Trophy'. Each pins has real diamond studded tee and golf ball presenting extremely well. Unique, rare, and one of a kind, these pins are destined to make a great golf collection all the more better. Each pin measures 1" x 3/4"
E.J. (Dutch) Harrison won 18 titles on the PGA tour and was inducted into the PGA Hall of Fame. Nine times Harrison had finished in the top 10 at major championships, and he won the 'Vardon Trophy' for lowest scoring average in 1954. Dutch had an outstanding golf career that had spanned over four decades, and he ranks fifth on the list of players with the most PGA Tour victories without a major championship title. We are please to offer this personal memorabilia from Dutch.
