Personal six inch in diameter award given to World Golf Hall of Famer Doug Ford at the 50th Golden Anniversary of the Los Angeles Open in 1976. This solid, heavy coin went to winners of each of the first 50 years the event was contested (1926-76). Ford was the champion in 1957. A memorable year for him as that was the same year which saw him claim the Masters green jacket. The reverse of this coin reads like a who's, who of golf listing champions of the LA Open which included Craig Wood, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, Arnold Palmer, Denny Shute and Ben Hogan. A detailed handwritten letter (see photo) comes from Doug Ford with this lot.
