Clifford Roberts Signed 1966 Augusta National GC Confidential Letter For Warren Orlick
From Masters Committee Chairman Clifford Roberts to Tournament Official Warren Orlick, here is a memorandum asking if there is something that they can do to discourage "unsportsmanlike conduct" from the gallery. The content is heavy in the way the 1965 Masters patrons treated eventual playoff-victor Jack Nicklaus. "...There were at least a few instances where some small portion of a bid gallery expressed enthusiasm when Nicklaus encountered misfortune." Clifford signed this two pager on ANGC letterhead simply 'Cliff' in pleasing blue ballpoint pen. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
