Circa 1910 F.H. Ayres Patent 'Cert' 4 Face Putter Club
Clubmaker F.H. Ayres of London patentended this rectangle block shaped club, offering a unique solution to numerous golf shots that were encountered in and around the green in 1910. As seen in the pictures, it is a center-shafted club that is in good condition with legible stamping on the head's top plane. This stamping reads “F H Ayres London The Cert Patent.” It bears deep crosshatching patterns on its four faces, which each having unique lofts. The greenheart shaft accents this already eccentric club that traces its origin back to over a century ago. Calling this club a putter would be selling it short, as it will certainly be a nice addition to any club collection. It measures 31 1/2" from the top of the grip to the bottom of the heel.
