Featured here is an example of a Circa 1850 Slight Concave Smooth Face Lofting Iron. As mentioned prior there is shellacking on the head and hozel, once thought of a preservation application and used for numerous pieces of sports memorabilia such as a Babe Ruth signed baseball perhaps. This club obviously dates those by many decades. The shape of the head is important when inspecting clubs from this time period.
