Byron Nelson, Arnold Palmer (x2) & Sam Snead Signed Sepia Photo to Caddy Wayne Beck
This image from nearly 60 years ago in 1965, taken in Dallas, Texas proceeded the bout of signers Byron Nelson, Arnold Palmer, and Sam Snead with Ben Hogan. This specific posed sepia photo is prominently signed in black sharpie by those three, to Palmer's caddy Wayne Beck - the boss signing twice after identifying a more preferred positioning on the second try across the shirt matching the co-signers. Palmer and Snead paired up in the star-powered exhibition against Hogan and Nelson. The Palmer vs. Hogan one-sided frustration ongoing, with Hogan refusing to call Arnold Palmer by his name or anything other than a "hey fella." With Nelson's ailing wrist and Hogan six years removed from victory on the PGA Tour, the Texans fell 5 and 3. Memorable is this piece of photography, the posed shot of three of the four participants side-by-side. The Masters Champions account for 28 major championships between the four. This photo exemplifies golfing greatness - and a moment in time in which four luminaries met for their only match.
