Bobby Jones Vintage Signed Post-Swing Sepia Photograph - Graded 9
James Spence Authentication's discerning eye took an extreme liking to the prized, unimprovable 'RTJ Slant' Bobby Jones signature on this post-swing sepia photo on thick paper. After nearly a century has passed, this signature was not just ruled authentic, but was granted a signature grade of '9' for body-builder strength on the JSA FULL letter of authenticity! Jones signed his Robert T. Jones Jr. full name rather quickly through the early 40's, when his health began declining, usually with steel tip fountain pen. This quick and confident speed of the ideal formation simply did not last over time - as the thin line was known to fade/lighten, seeping into the photo or medium - this one to Cyril J. Charters with 'best wishes - sincerely' inscribed in the hand of the golf luminary. This Bobby signed photo is the exception to that "rule." Few opportunities to obtain this book with Jones original personal greeting card present have come up over time. 'Slant' and 'full name RTJ' are always inviting descriptors for collectors in search of Bobby Jones' penmanship. Those two aforementioned single-quote descriptors are always inviting descriptors for collectors in search of Bobby Jones' penmanship - almost never this strong. These characteristics date the signature pre-1950's and carry a premium! The Augusta National co-founder and 'Impregnable Quadrilateral' victor remains top of the list for many golf collectors - with this being deemed a near perfect signature. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their FULL letter of authenticity with a signature grade of 9 (!) comes with this lot. 8" x 10"
