Bobby Jones Signed 1932 US Amateur at Baltimore CC Series Ticket
The highest achieving of Amateur players in the history of the game in Bobby Jones has signed this ticket in pencil with his full Robert T Jones JR. signature. This ticket represents a time-period signature from golf's biggest star only a year prior to him opening Augusta National Golf Club with Clifford Roberts. A limited number of Bobby Jones signed tickets are known to exist, and only a few of those actually make it to auction. Here we have the the 1932 United States Amateur ticket with Jones autograph appearing across almost the entire front surface of the ducat. This badge presents with some wear, and with the original green string still attached. Early U.S.G.A. Amateur memorabilia is difficult to find and a 1932 paper ticket is right up there in scarcity as are any Amateur badge from that time period. The match was played over the Five Farms course, ten miles out of Baltimore. Ross Somerville became the first Canadian to win the U.S.G.A. Amateur. He defeated Johnny Goodman 2 & 1, who had reached the Championship with a win over Francis Ouimet in the semis. The scallop edged ticket measures 3 3/4" diameter. PSA/DNA has reviewed the signatures of Jones and their findings lead to full letter of authenticity #AH04004 that comes with this lot.
