Relive the great Bobby Jones' first major win at the 1923 U.S. Open with this original type I photo of Jones on the third green during the play-off with Bobby Cruickshank and the entirety of the Inwood gallery patrons committed to watching the tournament's finish. Jones is shown putting in the center of the 3rd hole at Inwood Links here, protected and authenticated by PSA/DNA. This would mark the beginning of a brilliant career for Jones, who may have been the most iconic golfer to ever play - 13-time major champion. Bobby Jones' photographic first (major) here was shot by a gentleman that was without a doubt top billing in his profession - a legendary name in the industry. 10 x 13"
The camera eye which captured this image was that of George Pietzcker, a remarkable photographer from St. Louis who covered the golf scene from the early 1910's till mid 1930's. During this time period, he was the official photographer for the United States Golf Association creating a visual record of the country's national championships and champions. This incredible encapsulated type I photograph carries the Pietzcker embossed trademark in the bottom right corner and the coinciding original photo caption is adhered to the matte above the photo. The verso carries Pietcker's St. Louis photography studio stamp in the center, with adhesive remnants encompassing it - merely noted for accuracy purposes. Enthusiasm for this photography category auction entrant cannot be contained any further, this Bobby Jones' first major win Pietzcker is brilliant.

Each lot will have its own 30 minute countdown clock during extended bidding. The clock will extend 30-minutes from the time of the most recently placed bid for that lot. If no bids are placed on that lot during a 30-minute period, the lot will close. Place your bids now!

2. During extended bidding, you may bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. Lots with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 10pm ET
