Ben Hogan Signed Golf Glove Display with 1948-50-51-53 Nameplate
Ben Hogan is notable for his profound influence on the golf swing theory and his legendary ball-striking ability, for which he remains renowned among players and fans. His legendary career ended with nine major championships, tied for fourth all-time, and he is one of only five golfers to win each Major and complete the career Grand Slam. Hogan won the Open Championship in his only attempt in 1953, the U.S. Open in 1948, 1950, 1951, 1953, the Masters Tournament in 1951 and 1953, and the 1946 and 1948 PGA Championship. Easy and effective as a display piece, gloves such as this one continue to be a segment of the industry on the rise. Once part of a display with each of The Open Champion's single-signed golf gloves, it is adhered securely to the backing with the '1953' nameplate following suit. Originally obtained through Sanders' connections and celebrity status as a staple in golf for over two decades. The 20-time PGA Tour winner Doug Sanders was picked as a member of the 1967 Ryder Cup Team and obtained the nickname "The Peacock of the Fairways" with his colorful wardrobe. With friends in high places, a typical pro-am tournament field Sanders took part in might have consisted of names such as George H.W. Bush, Neil Armstrong and Willie Nelson. A large number of items that Doug collected over his playing career and thereafter are on display at The Doug Sanders Museum. Sharing in the joy of collecting, the generated funds from this sale will help benefit the Doug Sanders Museum. A signed letter of provenance from the museum will accompany this item.
