Ben Hogan Signed 1951 US Open Championship at Oakland Hills CC Program
To conquer the field of 162 golfers competing in the 1951 US Open meant that you had to be a player of supreme talent. It also required that you excel at the long, narrow and rugged Oakland Hills Country Club. Ben Hogan did, in what he claimed was his greatest round of golf, calling the course "The Monster". Hogan was one of only two players to break par on the week, shooting 67 on Sunday to claim the Open Championship. It gave "Bantam Ben" back-to back US Open victories (6th of 9 career major wins). Offered in this lot is a United States Golf Association published program from the course, Oakland Hills, which humbled so many of the top golfers in the world. The program presented here from that tournament is signed by the champ himself, Ben Hogan. The cover shows some wear and dog earring, though Hogan's signature in blue ink shines nicely.
James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the signature and their auction letter of authenticity will come with this lot.
