B.G.I. #110 Putting Cleek with Shaft Stamp
This antique muscle back Lofter golf club has the very rare & earliest B.G.I. mark as illustrated by Don Paris in his book, The B.G.I. Company. Mr. Paris notes that the marking on the head of this Lofter was a mark used on wood headed clubs, and was used on irons at the earliest beginning of the BGI production. This club has a very heavy patina. The shaft is a perfect tight fit to the head and the pin is near invisible. This Lofter measures 36 3/4 " long and the grip is 12 3/4". This is a great club & the oldest cleekmark used by BGI on irons. The cleekmark is strong and on the muscle back. B.G.I. was one of the 1st three Golf Club Makers in America-starting about 1898 & ending in less than 10 years.. They were a creative company & made quality golf clubs. B.G.I. was the first company to attempt using a numbering system to identify there different model clubs by adding a number on the shaft of the club. Some 20 years later, other companies started using the numbering system on the heads of the clubs
