Augusta National Founding Member Alfred S. Bourne Original Photo
Alfred Bourne came from a very wealthy family, his father having been the president of the Singer Sewing Machine Company. Bourne claimed the club championship four years in a row (1922-1925) and made the acquaintance of Bobby Jones. When Jones was looking for founding members for Augusta National, Bourne was a sure bet. An over zealous committee chairperson accidentally wrote Bourne's requested pledge to the Club as $50,000 as opposed to the standard $5,000, though Bourne paid the $50,000 the very next day. Bourne purchased the trophy for the Senior PGA Championship in 1937, and the Alfred S. Bourne trophy is still awarded to this day. Offered here is an original photograph of Bourne in great condition.
