Arnold Palmer Signed 1964 Masters Tuesday Ticket #494 with Nicklaus, Snead, & others

Long before the potent collecting trends in the golf memorabilia industry of tickets and signatures were in place, specifically Masters tickets/badges and signatures of the tournament winner, a patron and likely devoted member of 'Arnie's Army' on the Augusta National grounds the week of the 1964 Masters Tournament sought out not only the eventual champion and popular favorite Arnold Palmer to request his signature on their ticket, but 6 other future World Golf Hall of Famers as well. These of course include each of the then dominant 'Big 3' of Palmer, Nicklaus and Player, who took turns winning the tournament each year from 1960 through 1966. The Larger than Life champion Arnold Palmer carefully applied his pencil signature on the front of his winning 1964 Masters Tournament ticket along with rival and previous (and following) year's winner Jack Nicklaus and three-time Masters Champion Sam Snead. Many are familiar with Palmer's winning ways at Augusta National Golf Club, victorious on each of the even years from 1958 until 1964, winning an unprecedented 4 times in 7 years. The reverse of the ticket contains the $2.00 total for entry that day, along with signatures of Byron Nelson, Gary Player, Juan 'Chi-Chi' Rodriguez and the late Tony Lema. 1964 marked Arnold Palmer's final Masters win, a tournament and player that will always be viewed hand in hand. The collection of signatures on cuts would turn a collector's head, with the 1964 Masters Ticket subject matter elevating the piece into a much greater tier of demand. This ticket, as well as the time-period pencil signatures, have been preserved well since the tournament and the good to very good condition it is found in reflects that. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
