Alex (Sandy) Herd (D-1944) Signed 1927 Letter - 1902 British Open Champ
Sandy Herd was one of the most popular British professionals. He not only won the British Open in 1902, but also finished second three other times with the last coming at 52 years old in 1920. The offered correspondence in this lot is composed on his golf themed personal letterhead February 18, 1927, this missive from Alex Herd states his intent to visit and work with Rowan and Company. He wants to be adequately prepared and he mentions the "net stunt" in the body of his letter. Written with flowing penmanship and signed with a full name signature both in steel tip fountain pen. Letter displays traditional compacting folds for mailing.
James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the signature and their auction letter of authenticity will come with this lot.
