1994 US Amateur Straw Hat & Tiger Woods Newspaper Clipping - Woods' 1st US Amateur
For many Tiger Woods' emergence onto the national and world golfing platform was the 1997 Masters Tournament, on its largest stage. There is an argument to be made that his run of three consecutive US Amateur victories projected him to have great success on the PGA Tour and even become one of the best. The year 1994 marked his first US Amateur victory. Tiger's resilient nature propelled him past Trip Kuehne to fist-pumping success and the title at TPC Sawgrass in Vedra, Florida. Adorned with a straw hat from the tournament itself "1994 US Amateur," a salmon colored horizontal striped polo, dark shorts and light shoes, the cameras couldn't get enough. This lot includes the same type of straw hat that Tiger Woods wore that day, as well as a newspaper clipping from the day after the victory that features his fist pump.
