1988 Francis Ouimet First Day Issue Card Signed by 7 Champs
On the 75th anniversary of Francis Ouimet's memorable win in the 1913 United States Open the U.S.G.A returned to the course where history was made, Brookline, for the 1988 U.S. Open. To commemorate one of the most important dates in golf history the U.S. post office produced a 25 cent stamp and cachet depicting Francis Ouimet's triumph in 1913. Offered here, this desired piece, has been taken to another level with the addition of seven (five deceased)ink signatures from past U.S. Open champions: Jack Fleck, David Graham, Orville Moody, Byron Nelson, Ben Hogan, Gene Littler and Cary Middlecoff. With the prized signatures of deceased cornerstone autographs such as Middlecoff (not often seen on these composites,d-1998), Hogan and Nelson already present this piece presents endless opportunity. Additional space remains on front and clean verso side of this cachet to make this into a special presentation of U.S. Open champions autographs with key additions, but it surely could be enjoyed for the offering of champions already assembled. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed each of the signatures on this item, and their letter of authenticity will come with this lot.
