The 1988 Open Championship was the 117th Open Championship held from July 14-18 at the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club in Lytham St Annes, England. Seve Ballesteros won his third Open Championship and fifth major title. Offered here is a hole #11 flag with sleeve on left hand side designed for mounting on pinstick. Flag shows limited wear with a worn/dirt area to the left of numeral 11. In talks with known flag experts, it has been noted that there were not souvenir flags from this time frame at the British Open. The vast majority of souvenir flags come with either no hole, or the 18th hole designations. Review of video from this Championship clearly shows this exact style of flag in use. Reverse of flag carries manufacturers hang tag Ransomes Frews Scotland. An extremely difficult flag from a historical win in the career of Hall of Famer Seve Ballesteros. Also with this lot is a cut full named signed Seve Ballesteros autograph in black marker.
