The 1982 U.S. Open was a dual for the ages on Sunday between Jack Nicklaus, going for his record fifth title and Tom Watson. Nicklaus, carded a four-day score six shots better then his winning total in the Open in 1972 at Pebble Beach but it was not enoungh. Watson's victory was secured through supreme putting and a miraculous holed wedge shot on 17 out of gnarly fescue grass that fell for birdie. This shot is captured in the shadow box, and has been autographed by Watson in black sharpie. Also included is a difficult signed golf ball from Watson, who seldom agrees to autograph requests on balls anymore. Both items come with authenticity from JSA, who has reviewed these items.
