1969 Ryder Cup at Royal Birkdale Golf Club Program- Jack Nicklaus "The Concession"
The 1969 contest was held at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, England. The competition ended in a draw at 16 points each, when America's Jack Nicklaus conceded a misable putt to Britain's Tony Jacklin at the 18th hole. It was one of the most famous gestures of sportsmanship in all of sport. It was the first draw in Ryder Cup history, and the United States team retained the Cup. During one of the four balls on the second day, amid bad sportsmanship behavior from both teams, both captains had to come out and calm down the players. This led to Nicklaus conceding Jacklin's final putt with the knowledge that the tournament would end in a draw. Nicklaus' gesture became known as "the concession". Program remains fully intact with strong spine in good condition. It is in very good condition.

All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval). 1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
