1960 Masters Tournament Series Badge #4135 - Arnold Palmer Winner
Masters paper series ticket (badge) #4135 is offered in this lot. This was the last year of paper tickets at Augusta National before they would switch to the familiar plastic badges for the 1961 Masters. Item retains its original string for attachment to patron, and is in VG-EX condition, free from any creasing or wear. In those days, the Masters would use a hole punch at the gate to designate days of attendance, and by the number of punches on this ticket shows that this patron got their money's worth at the 24th Masters tournament. Arnold Palmer won the 1960 Masters at the height of Arnie's Army, with his legions of fans bringing vocal rooting to the course and taking golf into a new era as a spectator sport viewed by the masses both at the course and at home on their new black and white televisions. Arnie's swagger captivated the patrons, and his game tamed the Augusta National on his way to his second of four Masters championships in 1960.
