1959 US Amateur Contestants Badge - Jack Nicklaus Winner

At this event, 19-year-old Jack Nicklaus first realized 'that he may have a future in golf' when he defeated Charles Coe; 1 up, in the 36-hole final match for the Championship. To this day, Jack still claims that this was the first of his 20 career Majors, not 18 as the media famously quotes, but to Nicklaus' chagrin the trend of the day is to not credit his two Amateur titles as Majors. This 1 1/8" x 1 3/8" contestants pin remains in near mint condition free from chipping and with its original verso attachment intact. It carries the same traditional design which the United States Golf Association was employing for its Championships during the 1950's.

Please note: This auction will end at 7:00pm EST on September 27th with extended bidding to follow. All items in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period. All lots are free to be bid on until extended bidding has ended
