1959 The Walker Cup at Muirfield Program Signed by Team Including Nicklaus

In May of 1959, Jack Nicklaus traveled as a 19-year-old Ohio State Freshman to Scotland with the United States team to compete in the Walker Cup matches against Great Britain, held at the fast playing Muirfield. U.S. team member Harvie Ward always up for a good time gave each of his teammates nicknames with Nicklaus carrying the tag "Snow White", Ward did not let up on himself carrying the nickname ("E. Mickey Mouse"). The relaxed mood around the team carried through to victory in what many call the finest U.S. squad assembled. Nicklaus was 2-0-0 winning in foursomes and easily winning a singles match 5 & 4. This lot features an early career signature for Jack Nicklaus by his picture, as well as the rest of the United States team including Tommy Aaron and Deane Beman. Including with many of the British teams signatures are Henry Cotton and Dai Rees.

The program measures 6" x 9 1/2" and originates from the that week's matches in Scotland. All signatures are in pen and original to the time period. James Spence Authentication (JSA) provides a letter of authenticity with this lot.

AUCTION CLOSING RULES:

This auction will end at 9:00pm EST Sunday, July 21st with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval)

1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
