1956 US Open at Oak Hill Contestant Badge - Cary Middlecoff Winner

Offered here is a contestants badge from the 1956 U.S. Open. The facing side of the 1 1/8" x 1 1/4" metal badge of entrance bears the wording "PLAYER","1956" and"U.S.G.A" in raised fashion with a navy blue enameled circular accent which states"OPEN GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP". The reverse of this badge, from the 1956 Championship won by Cary Middlecoff at Oak Hill Country Club, still carries it's original pin clasp in working fashion. Middlecoff held off former champions Ben Hogan and Julius Boros by one stroke to claim his second U.S. Open championship (1949). This badge is in excellent condition.
