1954 Palm Beach Golf Ticket Signed By JIMMY DEMARET, Cary Middlecoff, and Champ Sam Snead
PGA Tour Invitation event was limited to 16 of the top players on Tour. In 1954 this annual(1938-57) metropolitan New York tournament was contested at historic Meadow Brook Country Club (an early member of the United States Golf Association). Offered here is a ticket of admission for the Friday May 14, 1954 round, presenting in excellent condition. The exciting aspect of this lot is the reverse of the ticket(tape stains on 4 corners due not impede autographs) which features pencil signatures of 14 of the 16 players in the select field (auotographs present in 7-9 strength with Walter Burkemo a light 3). A list of the signatures on the verso of the ticket reads like a Who's, Who of 1950's golf (incl.):Jim Turnesa (D-1971, 1952 PGA Champ),Earl Stewart Jr (D-1990) Bob Toski, Cary Middlecoff (D-1998, HoF, Masters Champ 1955, 1949&56 US Open Champ), Tommy Bolt (HoF,D-2008, 1958 US Open Champ), Lloyd Mangrum (D-1973,HoF, 1946 U.S. Open Champ), Byron Nelson (D-2006, HoF,Masters & US Open Champ) Marty Furgol (D-2005), JIMMY DEMARET (D-1983, HoF,seldom seen Masters champ), Gene Littler (HoF, US Open champ) Jack Burke (HoF, Masters Champ) Sam Snead (D-2002, HoF, Masters champ), Ted Kroll (D-2002) and Walter Burkemo (D-1986, 1953 PGA champ). Slamming Sammy Snead was the runaway winner of this event, and his signature presents strongly on this star packed ticket of autographs.
