1954 Masters Tournament SERIES Badge #4078 Signed by Billy Joe Patton
The ever-popular 1954 Masters Tournament badge measures 2 3/4" x 4 3/4." Billy Joe Patton leaves his signature on this badge in black ink. The badge also includes the name 'Lila Jackson' and an address accompanying it. It gave patrons the opportunity to watch the main event unfold, which was the battle between Ben Hogan and Sam Snead. It also allowed them to see Patton come within one stroke of forcing a three-man playoff with the two, but his final round of 71 would fall just short of giving him a chance to compete for the championship. Patton's final round included a hole-in-one on the par-3 sixth hole and a debilitating double bogey on the par-5 13th hole, where he tried to reach the green in two and his ball ended up in Rae's Creek. "Slammin' Sammy" would go on to beat Hogan for his third Masters victory. This badge is in good condition, showing some signs of aging and wear.
James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this autograph and their certification of its authenticity will come with this lot.
