1954 Masters Thursday-Sunday Pairing Sheets
The rivalry between Ben Hogan and Sam Snead thickened at the 1954 Masters Tournament, where Snead would defeat the defending champion Hogan by one stroke in an 18-hole playoff on Monday. Offered in this lot are the pairing sheets from each day of play from April 8-12 at Augusta National. This was Snead's third Masters victory and last of his seven major championships. The rivalry was intense for the two, both aged 41, as they had won the previous three Masters, with Snead also winning in 1952 and Hogan winning in 1951 and 1953. The pairing sheets remain in good condition, with some signs of age and tears, see photo for details.
