1954 U.S. Open Program and Scorecard - Baltusrol

Excitement was heightened for the United States Golf Association's 1954 Championship. It was celebrated with television coverage of the event for the first time, and offered fan favorite Ben Hogan as the defending champion. Offered in this two item lot is the course sold official program in vg-ex condition (rounding and creasing at each of four corners, but with spine strongly intact and with pages complete and intact. The second item of this lot is a scorecard for the 7,027 yard course which was issued in four page format by host city Springfield as a welcome to the numerous visitors attending the Championship. The 54th US Open held at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, NJ June 17-19 1954 was won by Ed Furgol. Furgol’s win in this Open was accomplished in spite of a left arm that was crooked, shortened and stiff at the elbow – the result of an accident in his youth.
