1953 Open Championship at Carnoustie Final Day Ticket Ben Hogan Winner - Excellent Condition
Finding a final day ticket from the 1953 Open Championship tournament proves to be a challenging task. One presented in excellent condition is even more. Few names in the history of the great game of golf get more respect than Ben Hogan. Coming from very little, Hogan had to work for everything he was ever given, and that's the way he preferred it. In 1953, before the largest gallery in Open history, Ben Hogan's Sunday round 68 was a new single round course record at Carnoustie. His 72 hole score of 282 was also the lowest score in the history of the Open Championship. There was nothing stopping him, as Hogan had claimed his third straight Major title of the year. He returned to the States for a New York ticker tape parade which was followed by a similar parade in his hometown of Fort Worth on Monday July 27th. Included in this lot is a ticket from the final round of that tournament, complete with its original string and in excellent condition. The ticket is in excellent condition, as the hole was in the original design.
AUCTION CLOSING RULES:
This auction will end at 9:00pm EST Sunday, July 21st with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval)
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
