1953 Masters Saturday Pairing Sheet - Ben Hogan Winner

On Saturday April 11, 1953 Ben Hogan's ball-striking never appeared more commanding, he went went out in 32 and played the inward nine in 34 for a 66 his low round in the Masters tournament to date (only equaled with his 66 in the 1967 event). This gave Ben a total of 205, easily besting Byron Nelson's old 54-hole tournament record. The Sunday round was more vintage play with many judges of the history of golf looking at Ben Hogan's 1953 Masters as the finest 72 holes of golf over the first 100 years of the game. Hogan won the the '53 Masters besting the low tournament score previously posted by five strokes as he won by five strokes. This lot offers the pairing sheet from Hogan's Saturday low career round (66) at the Masters. This is a top condition example as defined by sharp corners, free from staining, and displaying only the traditional vertical folds which almost always appear on these sheets. One word sums up this pairing sheet, and Hogan's play that day at the National--Brilliant!
