1952 Masters Tournament Album Leather Players Gift-Crawford Johnson, Jr. from Augusta National GC
A special offering in this lot comes in the form of the 1952 Masters Tournament player gift, a leather bound Masters photograph album. This gift presents wonderful incite into the many working parts which come together to present the Masters. This was the seventh installment of a yearly tradition began in 1946 of presenting a gifts to each of the contestants in the invitational event, with a very limited number of over runs which were gifted to dignitaries. This book with owners name etched in gold on the cover went to Crawford Johnson Jr. of Birmingham, Alabama, who was the second generation head of The Coca-Cola Bottling Company United. Long time members and purveyors of soft drinks to the Augusta National. Next to the assembling of a run of tickets/badges from each of the Masters tournaments the collecting of each of the player gifts awarded has become a favorite among advanced Masters collectors. This leather bound album with highest detailed design has become a true lynch pin of completing this collection. In near mint condition it measures 15 1/4" x 10 1/4" x 3/4".
