1952 All-American Men's Amateur Golf Tournament Winner's Sterling Plate - Frank Stranahan
Frank Stranahan's victory in the 1952 All-American Men's Amateur Golf Tournament marked his fifth straight triumph in the event. Keeping with promoter and host George May's norm the winners award in this case a 9" diameter plate was magnificent. The front etchings of the plate paid tribute to Stranhan's five straight wins and showed a detail look of the clubhouse at Tam O'Shanter site of his course supremacy in the All-American. The reverse of the plate is engraved "Randahl Sterling" "65 (the model of product)" and "9 In". The Randal marking stands for the Silversmith, Julius Olaf Randahl who for over 50 years beginning in 1911, and later with his sons was the leading name in silver based locally in Chicago where local department stores Marshall Field's and Peacock's sold large quantities of his work. A portion of the Frank Stranahan collection proceeds will be donated to The First Tee of Lake Erie.
In order to bid in extended bidding you must place a bid on the lot before 9pm on auction closing day.
