1950 Lloyd Mangrum Open Low Amateur Sterling Cup - Frank Stranahan
Lloyd Mangrum, the golf Hall of Famer, was a dominate player on the professional tour in the late 1940's and early 50's. In this time frame he was often challenged in the medal events of the day by the top amateur Frank Stranahan. It was only natural that Frank would be invited to participate in Mangrum's event. It was also natural that Stranny would capture low amateur honors. His winners award for this championship are the trophy offered here which measures 3 1/2" in diameter, is 8" tall and 6 3/4" wide from handle ends. Bottom of the cup is clearly engraved "STERLING" and "161". A portion of the Frank Stranahan collection proceeds will be donated to The First Tee of Lake Erie.
In order to bid in extended bidding you must place a bid on the lot before 9pm on auction closing day.
